About Dr. Stiers
Michael J. Stiers, Ph.D. is a Clinical Psychologist in private practice at Dupont Circle in Washington, D.C. His practice includes Individual psychotherapy, couples therapy, group psychotherapy, supervision and consultation.
Dr. Stiers is the former Executive Director of the Washington School of Psychiatry and was the founding Dean of the National Group Psychotherapy Institute. Dr. Stiers was a consultant to the World Bank as a member of the Critical Stress Response Team. For ten years, Dr. Stiers served as an adjunct professor of clinical and medical psychology at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences and as a consultant to the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. He also served as an adjunct clinical professor in the Department of Psychology at George Washington University. He has published professional articles on psychotherapy, multiculturalism, mourning, group development, large groups and organizations, and catastrophic change. Dr. Stiers teaches nationally and has been recognized by Washingtonian Magazine as one of the Top Therapists in the Washington, D.C. area.
